A look at the decline in activism in New Zealand society, from 3 June, 2012…

All around the world students are rising up against increasing costs for education and lack of job prospects. Just look at QuebecLondon, and not to mention the Occupy Movement. Yet at the University of Otago for some reason we seem to turn a blind eye to the government treating education like a privilege rather than a human right. I could have said “New Zealand” in general, as I believe that we are generally more apathetic towards politics than our fellow world citizens, however I think Otago provides the best example of apathy, especially given the courage of AUT students recently in their “Blockade the Budget” campaign.With these events on my mind, a few nights ago I had an interesting chat with a friend of mine who is on exchange from Denmark…
